Still Here!

Just wanted to give a quick little update! I have quite a few things I need to post, but it seems that the days just seem to fly by.

Spring has finally sprung! Can't help but have a little spring in the step and a smile on the face!
I'm back to my wheat-free eating. That, too, has done wonders for my mood. My head is so much clearer, I'm not ready for a nap by 2pm.

As much as I try to stop them, the kids are growing like weeds. Won't be long before Big Brother is taller than me! We just got report cards in about a week ago. I have to admit, I am very proud of the grades Big Brother and Sissy have gotten this past marking period. Let's just say they are breaking Grandpa's Bank with the $2/A pay-out.

I'll be back soon...promise!

I'm curious about the wheat-free diet...I've heard a lot about it, and I wonder what made you decide to do it, if that's not too personal. I know what you mean with the days flying by...with Brad gone I expected them to drag, but next thing you know another day is done!

Naah, it's not too personal at all. About 2 years ago I had a really bad allergic reaction going on. My whole body (except for my face) was covered in a red, hot, itchy rash. I had blisters on just my hands and feet that resembled the watery blisters you get with poison ivy. The rest was like some serious hives. I attributed a lot of it to my laundry soap/fabric softener. The stuff on my hands and feet itched so immensley I would often wake in the middle of the night crying...it itched so bad! After living on Benadryl for 2 weeks and virtually no relief at all, I went to a homeopathic dr. He did a lot of non-invasive allergy testing and I found that the stuff on my hands and feet were the result of food allergies. The stuff on the rest of my body was due to chemical type allergies (cleaners, laundry soap, etc). At the time, my body was so over-taxed with the different allergens, it just went into mega reaction mode.
I found that a lot of my weight problems were due to the allergies. My body in an effort to distance itself from the toxins would add water weight to neutralize it. I was found to have strong allergies to wheat and oats. I was sensitive to the night shade vegetables and for the time was supposed to give up all grains. After about 6 months I was slowly able to start re-introducing the foods, wheat included. He told me that because of the genetic altering of the wheat, my body might never fully tolerate it. He said I should stick to the organic products. Unfortunately, I didn't. After about 6 months of eating it again, I have noticed that my body is not tolerating it again. I don't have the rash, but I noticed a lot of bloating and I wander around in a fog. It really affects my mental clarity and my waistline :)
When I first started the wheat free eating I almost immediately (in about 2 mos time) lost about 35 lbs. Having not eaten wheat now for about 1 week, I've noticed my waist has gone down about 2 inches already. Seems kinda crazy, but very true for me. :)

thanks for explaining that...

I get a similar rash on my hands that you described. Not nearly as intolerable as yours though, more just an irritation.

I am glad that you experience such noticable changes, I imagine its tough to stick with it, but at least you can tell its working!

Good for you, Destini! I'm noticing today that even a little sunshine helps, though the temps are not too springy.

As for those growing kids, I tell mine, "Come here a minute so I can squish you." It doesn't stop the growing, but it's always good for a giggle. And it's amazing how often they come over and let me try. :-)
