The Flip Side of the Coin

I'm sure that over the course of your life you've heard that there are 2 sides to every story. Today I am offering proof.
Cast of Characters:
Princess in Training...Boogie Cousin visiting from Sunny Florida..."Double T"
(He Looks Sweet Enough)
His mom was sitting somewhere behind him and told him to give Boogie a hug...He happily obliged.

What she saw was one of those heart melting moments when her little man gives his cute cousin a hug.

The Flip side of the coin is what Auntie saw...look at that look of concentration as he carefully poured that water down Boogie's back...

Carefully...carefully...
Our lesson for today...there ARE in fact 2 sides to every story.

The Taming of Big Bertha

This past weekend we went up north to spend some time at the lake with Steven's family. The 2 big kids decided they wanted to try tubing...but only if Grandpa tried it first to show them the ropes. Never being one to turn down a challenge, Grandpa obliged. Unfortunately, the old tube was no match for Grandpa or our little boat. The cleat ripped off on the first try, which left us scrambling to find a new tube on Saturday morning...Enter BIG BERTHA...
The ride home with Big Bertha was a trip in and of itself. I figured at any moment the little VW convertible was going to go airborne with this big thing attached to the roof, but alas, we did make it back safe and sound with all 4 wheels on the ground. In just a matter of minutes, Big Bertha was hooked on the boat and loaded with its first round of passengers... The first round of the taming went well...
Sis didn't want to get out of the tube.

Bertha...yes...camera...No.
The victims...er...passengers lined up for their shot
at taming the beast. Grandma hopped in with Sis.
It is hard to tell who is in charge here...

A quick passenger switch and Bertha is off for another run..
In the end, Bertha was not that intimidating. She just looks big.

The Latest Boogie-ism

I was in the bathroom this morning just getting out of the shower when Boogie stumbled in half-asleep...

Me: "Goodmorning baby...did you sleep good?"

Boogie: "I don't feel so good today. I don't think I'll be goin to princess school. I have Croak-its in my froat."

Me: "You have what in your throat?"

Boogie: "Croak-its...they're in my froat."

Me: ***smile***

For those of you who don't know my little Boogie well, she is a princess in training and goes to princess school everyday in a land far away named Monia. She drives a little convertible and picks up her friends every day. They all wear back packs and go barefooting because there are no rocks in Monia. While she is in Monia, she is cared for by her black mom named Agey (pronounced age*e). Agey lets her eat chocolate and teaches her how to be a good princess.
Next time you see her, let her know you've prayed for Agey...she has had the flu.

Boogie-isms

I was having a telephone conversation with my husband regarding some business matter. I made the comment that "I put a bug in his ear" about a situation at a customer's home. When I got off the phone, Boogie was quite perplexed....
"Mom, why did you put a bug in his ear?"

The World According to Boogie

"Boogie, will you please throw this stuff in the garbage for me?"
Boogie: "Sure"
Mom: "Thanks"
Boogie: "Why are you torturing me?"
Mom: "That's just what us moms do, torture our children by making them throw things in the garbage."

As I was getting dressed today, Boogie came running into my room in her brand new Cinderella underwear...
Boogie: "Don't look at me I'm naked"
Me: "You're not naked, you have your beautiful Cinderella undies on. I love those, I wish I had a pair."
Boogie: "You could buy some..."
Me: "I don't think they make them in my size."
Boogie: "I'll make you some...everyone should have Cinderella undawares."

More Potty Humor...

Today was one of those rare occasions that Steven and I were able to spend the whole day together. Unfortunately, it was because he didn't have work for the day. Thankfully, though, we do have work lined up for the rest of the week.

We have been looking at cars lately, wanting to find something relatively inexpensive that gets good gas mileage. Today we spent the day driving around looking at cars. One stop in particular, I had to take Boogie to the potty.

Every time we use a public restroom, I remind her..."Please do not lock the door. I am afraid that you won't be able to unlock it. I will just hold the door for you, no one will walk in." Being that she is now 3, I am not able to go into the stall with her...you know...3 year olds need their privacy.

Every time she uses the potty in the public restroom, she insists on locking the door. Once again I will break into my "PleasedonotlockthedoorIamafraidthatyouwon'tbeabletounlockit" speech. Usually she laughs at me and says ever so sweetly "No I won't!"

Today she did.

Yep. She locked herself in the stall and couldn't get out.

I kept trying to coach her from the outside of the door... "Boogie, listen to me...pull down on the latch, pull it toward the floor...."

Boogie: "Oh, like this mom?"
Me: "I'm not really sure...I can't see through the door. If you are pulling the lock toward the floor then, yes, you are doing it right." The lock would not budge.

We went back and forth about 10 times, me repeating the instructions, and her asking me if I can see through the door if she was doing it right. I was just about ready to give up and have her crawl under the door when it FINALLY opened.

Thank goodness! The thought of shimmying my big butt under the door and touching the bathroom floor to unlock the door really had me grossed out.

Good Friday, Great Friday!

Last Friday, Good Friday, Steven took the day off of work. We decided to go Up North for the day and just hang out...get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We got up kind of early and ate breakfast at Tony's on the way up. It was surprising to arrive at the "Huntin Shack" and see all of the snow on the ground...only 1 1/2 hours north!

We decided to pile into the Rhino and take a ride to the other side of the river and make sure the barn over there had not been disturbed. Unfortunately, we only make it just a few yards down the trail before we got really really stuck...

Stuck enough that Steven had to walk back and hop on the tractor. Don't worry...I stayed with the kids on the stuck Rhino while he went back for the tractor. This was actually after we pulled the Rhino out and got back to the Huntin Shack.

Our little Annie Oakley was anxious to shoot her new BB gun she got from Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas. It was a little difficult for her to shoot at first...the stock was a little long for her. We ended up taking the stock right off the gun and she was hitting her target like a pro! Big Brother was putting some major hurts on the milk jug he was aiming at too.

Boogie just jumped around in the snow looking cute. You might have noticed that she has no hat or gloves on...don't worry, we were not out for very long. We had a nice toasty fire in the Huntin Shack.

Me...I took the opportunity to take some pictures. I guess if there was any good side to having all the snow up there, it made for some really cool pictures.

It was pretty awesome to photograph God's beautiful creation on one of the most precious days of the year...the day we celebrate Good Friday.
Good Friday? No...GREAT Friday!

Kids Say the Cutest Things

Today Boogie had a follow-up appointment to re-check her ears to make sure they were infection free after last months bout with infection. As we were sitting in the exam room, she was carefully surveying the landscape. Her eyes fixed on a jar of cotton balls sitting on the counter...

"Mommy, why do the doctors have sheep in there?"

I love looking at the world through the eyes of a small child. The jar of cotton balls did, in fact, look like a jar full of sheep...albeit small sheep.

Take the time to find some humor in your day today. Enjoy the little things!

I'd also like to lift some people in prayer today, as well. Encourage Amanda and her boys as her husband is on deployment. Pray for God's hedge of protection around him as he is away. Pray for Joshua's family as they are mourning his loss. Pray for Tricia as she may be developing an infection in her lungs. Also pray for her new lungs to come soon. Pray for our Florida family that they would continue to settle in down there...that it would soon begin to feel like home.

Have a blessed day today!
